Ground in/out.
This is to cure an “Earth loop” (Ground loop in the USA)
If you have a persistent hum, that disappears when the input lead is
disconnected, try this switch in the “out” position. Leave it “in” if you have no
problems with hum.
Music/Cinema switch.
In the “Cinema” position, bass is artificially boosted.
This feature partially compensates for the inherent bass roll-of and produces a
much improved frequency response. Leave this switch in the “Cinema” position
at all times.
Manual/Automatic switch.
Always leave on manual. Switch the power off when not in use.
The auto/manual function is only a loudspeaker mute and does not save any
power. If you leave this type of sub-woofer powered 24/7 you are wasting
power and shortening the life of the internal electronics.
Sub-woofer placement.
Finding the right spot in your room can make a dramatic difference in the way
your sub sounds. Corner placement is normal for most people, possibly
because it’s out of the way and almost always produces the most bass. Corner
placement may not yield the most accurate bass (and/or smoothest transition
to the satellite speakers).
With small satellite speakers it’s best to keep the sub within 1m of centre
speaker. Once the sub is a lot further away, it is much harder to maintain the
illusion the bass is coming from the speakers and not the sub.
